New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has said that house prices in Scotland are now at a record high.

In fact, the country is the first region of the UK said to have house prices surpass the peak level prior to the economic downturn.

The ONS said, for the month of July, property prices reached an average of £272,000, after an increase of 11.7% over the last year.

House prices in Scotland are now said to be 0.7% above previous peak levels.

In recent weeks, however, disruption to the market has been noticed by estate agents, as many potential home buyers are said to be delaying their plans until the outcome of the Scottish referendum vote is unveiled.
