Two war memorials are to be restored in East Dunbartonshire, the local authority has confirmed.
Work will commence on the Bearsden War Memorial next Monday (22 September) and is expected to last for two weeks. This will be followed by work to renovate the Milnagavie War Memorial, with work starting on Monday 6 October.
The two projects will see the bronze statues cleaned, waxed and buffed, while the stone plinths will be cleaned and re-pointed. The broken stonework around the memorials is also to be replaced.
Councillor Ashay Ghai, depute leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said: "This work will dramatically improve these two War memorials, ensuring they are fitting tributes to the residents of East Dunbartonshire who lost their lives fighting for their country.
"It is particularly fitting that this work is taking place in the year of the 100th anniversary of the First World War when so many perished."
