Work on a new solar PV insulation has been completed at Linlithgow Academy.
When fully operational, the revenue savings are expected to be around £6,000 a year.
West Lothian Council has said that a programme of installation works at other school buildings will now follow. The scheme is part of the council's aim to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs.
Tom Conn, Executive Councillor for the Environment, said: "The installation at Linlithgow Academy has gone smoothly and the school will soon benefit from savings in energy costs and carbon."
