Fife Council has said it has completed its roadworks on the B981 at Cluny.

The project has been finished two weeks ahead of schedule.

The works, which cost around £260,000, included:

• Removing the temporary supports to the bridge, carrying the B981 over the Den Burn

• Extending the structure that allows water to flow under the road

• Embankment and road widening

• A new footpath linking the two parts of the village

• Road resurfacing

• BT cable diversion

• New sewage pipe and diversion

• New street lighting columns

• Tree planting.

Welcoming the completed project, Councillor Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation, said: "Improving Fife's road network is a priority for the Council. We've spent over £250,000 in Cluny making major improvements to the road and surrounding areas.

"Finishing the roadworks two weeks ahead of schedule is an added bonus; people can get back to their normal routines now. I'd like to thank residents and road users for their patience and co-operation during these works."
