Work Begins On New Council Homes

Construction work has started on the site of the former Broxburn Primary School in West Lothian.

The land will be transformed to accommodate a new council housing development.

Located off West Main Street, a total of 18 homes will be built by Lovell Partnerships Ltd and will consist of one and two-bedroom flats, that will be made primarily available to older people with disabilities.

George Paul, Executive Councillor for Services for the Community, said: "The work is now well underway and the site is beginning to take shape. The new development will incorporate part of the original building.

"Affordable housing is in great demand and new properties will go some way to providing important homes for West Lothian residents. This site in Broxburn is one of a number of sites which are being used to provide new build council housing. West Lothian Council are committed to providing new, affordable homes across the county."

The Council has said work on the properties is scheduled for completion in summer 2015.
