East Lothian Council has confirmed that a series of extensive improvement works are to be carried out to High Street in Musselburgh, between Kilwinning Street and Pinkie Pillars.
The scheme will begin on Friday 4 August and it is thought the work will take approximately 16 weeks to complete. A scheduled completion date of 21 November has been provided by the local authority.
The works will include the creation of new additional parking areas, kerb re-alignment, carriageway resurfacing, pavement resurfacing, the installation of traffic signals and landscaping.
Commenting on the project, Cabinet spokesperson for Transport and Roads, Councillor Michael Veitch, said: "In order to carry out this work safely it will be necessary to install temporary traffic and pedestrian management systems and some temporary parking restrictions on sections of the road. These will all be signed and coned accordingly but inevitably there will be some disruption during the construction period which the contractor hopes to keep to a minimum."
