River Clyde Homes has started work to deliver 20 new homes for rent in the Port Glasgow area.
Funding of £1.24m was provided by the Scottish Government for the project which will be located on Woodhall Terrace in the town.
The properties will be a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom semi-detached and cottage flats, that will cater for varying needs, such as wheelchair access. They will also be energy efficient and on-site parking facilities will also be created.
The development, designed by Barham Glen Architects, is being built by CCG. The homes are expected to be completed next year.
Welcoming the start of site works, Alan Duncan, Board Member at River Clyde Homes, said: "In these difficult economic times we are pleased to have received funding from the Scottish Government that allows this development of quality homes to go ahead.
"We have worked closely with those remaining tenants in the Lower Woodhall area on the project. As with other new build developments in Inverclyde we have worked with Strathclyde Police to integrate a number of security and safety features in line with the Safer by Design initiative."
