Dumfries Hospital Roadworks Commence

A major road scheme has commenced on the Garroch roundabout and the A75 in Dumfries.

The project is part of vital preparatory works for a new £200m hospital that is being constructed in the town. Work on the hospital is expected to begin in spring 2015.

Balfour Beatty has been appointed to carry out the work. While most of the scheme will be undertaken at night to minimise disruption for motorists, drivers have been warned that delays will be likely. A night-time traffic light management system will be in operation between the hours of 7pm and 6.30am. During this period, attendant emergency and communication arrangements will be in place. During the day, it is anticipated that two-way traffic will be maintained, although the lanes will be narrowed to provide a safe area for daytime verge works.

A 40mph speed restriction will be in place at all time.
