A total of 12 new homes are to be constructed in Inveraray it has been announced.
The properties will be available for rent and will be built by Stewart McNee Limited on behalf of Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA).
The £1.7m development will consist of four one-bedroom flats, four two-bedroom flats and four three-bedroom houses. It will be built to meet the Silver Building Regulation standard, comprising of enhanced insulation, triple glazing, air-source heating and solar water heating that will ejlp to reduce fuel costs. A Scottish Water-funded rainwater recycling initiative will also be created and incorporated into the design of the properties.
Alastair MacGregor, Chief Executive at ACHA, said: "I am really pleased that with the support of the Scottish Government and Argyll and Bute Council we have been able to take this initiative forward. Not only will the development provide new homes on its completion but skilled construction jobs for the duration of the development."
Work on the project is expected to commence this month, with a scheduled completion date of summer 2015.
