A new contractor, appointed to the Dunfermline Flood Prevention Scheme, has started work on site.
Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd was chosen by Fife Council last month to complete the works.
The remaining works are located in Rex Park and Forth Street. In Rex Park, flood defence embankments, footpath works, street lighting, the children's play park and landscaping works all need to be completed. While at Forth Street, a structure needs to be completed that will allow the flood waters to flow under the road. In order for this to be carried out, temporary traffic controls will be put in place for safety purposes.
Councillor Pat Callaghan, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation, said: "It's great to see that work has started again on site. Last month we appointed Wills Bros Civil Engineering Ltd to finish the flood prevention works. All going well, the job should be completed by December 2014.
"I would like to thank the residents of Dunfermline for their continued patience. This project has gone on a lot longer than anyone envisaged, but the end is now in sight."
