The Co-operative Group has submitted plans to construct a new supermarket in the Scottish Borders. The site in question is that of a former filling station on Melrose Road, Earlston.
It is understood the Co-op proposes to build a supermarket and retain the petrol pumps under its plans. A change-of-use application for the land has already been submitted to the Scottish Borders Council. If approved, the 0.3 hectare site would house a retail outlet, with the associated car park facilities increasing from 16 spaces, to 32.
