Strong Turnout For AWPR Exhibitions

Transport Scotland has welcomed strong attendance numbers at a series of public exhibitions regarding the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route/Balmedie-Tipperty scheme.

The plans for the ambitious project went on display last week and already more than 1,200 are thought to have attended the exhibition.

The events include details on the route, the wider benefits of the initiative, progress of advanced works and environmental mitigation.

Additional exhibitions will be held this week at:

• Maryculter – The Old Mill Inn, South Deeside Road, Aberdeen – Tuesday 1 July from 12 noon to 7pm.

• Newmachar – Newmachar Hotel, Aberdeen – Wednesday 2 July from 12 noon to 7pm.

• Stonehaven – Stonehaven Recreation Grounds Club, Stonehaven – Thursday 3 July from 12 noon to 7pm.

• Dyce – Dyce Community Centre, Aberdeen – Friday 4 July from 12 noon to 7pm.

Members of the project team will also be in attendance to answer any questions or discuss the plans further.

A spokesperson for Transport Scotland said: "We have been encouraged by the tremendous response to the exhibition which has visited five locations along the route this week and provided communities with a chance to come and see the scheme plans and ask our engineers any questions they may have.

"With the construction of the new road coming closer, it's important people get a chance to remind themselves of the plans and what it will mean for them. Over the last few months we've been working hard to identify a preferred bidder to deliver the scheme, as well as take forward advance works before the general construction begins in earnest later in the year."
