A total of 12 new homes have been completed in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire.

The properties have been constructed on the site of a former garage and derelict land.

Known as Fern Grove, the development of one- and two-bed houses and flats will provide a home to 12 local families. Each property has been built to a high quality and is energy efficient.

Cruden Building and Renewals Ltd constructed the development on behalf of the local authority, while the Scottish Government provided a grant of £360,000 towards the project.

Welcoming the completed investment, Councillor Ashay Ghai, Depute Leader of East Dunbartonshire Council, said: "There are two reasons why I am delighted to be here, launching Fern Grove. This lovely new development, which embraces the Council's 'designing streets' principle, will provide 12 much-needed new homes for couples and families, many of whom have been waiting a long time for the right property to come up.

"It's also a great success story for the Council as it has transformed a piece of unsightly, derelict land, so is good news for the whole community."
