A timber firm based in the Scottish Borders is set to expand its business further following its acquisition of sawmill firm RF Giddings.

It is understood BSW Timber will formally take over RF Giddings on 1 August and the move will double capacity at the mill as well as creating 10 new jobs at its site in the New Forest.

Tony Hackney, Chief Executive of BSW Timber, is quoted as saying that the two companies had been "working closely" together for some time and that the move would provide the BSW Group with "significant reach" throughout the UK.

Lynda Glover, Managing Director at RF Giddings, added while the company had enjoyed huge success, it was "the right time to hand over the reins to BSW Timber."

She added: "The company is one of the most successful and respected businesses in the UK, and has a strong track record of committed investment across all its UK sites, continually improving the quality of both its service and products.

"We are looking forward to seeing the sawmill thrive under this new leadership."
