Planning officials for the Highland Council have called for Councillors to support plans for a new wind farm – on the condition that the development is reduced in size.
SSE's proposed Strathy South wind farm in Sutherland would consist of 47 turbines, but RSPB Scotland and Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) have voiced their concerns of the development's impact on local wildlife, such as birds.
As a result, the planning officials have proposed that eight turbines should be removed.
The application will be discussed next week (9 June).
