New Bridge Installed At Galashiels

A new bridge has been lifted into place in Galashiels.

Network Rail has said the structure will play a "vital role" in the Borders Railway project.

Last weekend, some 15 people were involved in the work at Wheatlands Road to install the 90-tonne structure.

Commenting on the scheme, Hugh Wark, Network Rail Project Director, said the process had gone "very well".

Bridge works will now continue in the area, with further structures to be installed on Currie Road and over the Gala Water.
