Work has commenced on a new housing development, east of Arbroath in Angus.
According to Scottish Housing News, the plans will see 10 homes constructed on the Great Michael Road, a former site of Ministry of Defence housing.
Muirfield Contracts will be responsible for building the properties which will be a mix of four flats and six semi-detached houses. It is understood the new flats will not be earmarked for any specific tenant group and there are hopes the first tenants will be able to move in from February 2015.
Angus Housing Association is behind the plans, and Ron McArthur, Asset Manager, said: "We demolished 12 flats there at the back end of last year. They were ex-MoD flats and were beyond saving."
The £720,000 development is just the latest investment in housing in Arbroath, and comes less than a month after some £700,000 was set aside to refurbish 12 affordable properties on Millgate Loan.
