Moray Council has said that a deadline to respond to a planning application for the proposed Elgin western link road has been extended due to a technical glitch.

The original deadline for comments had been set for today, but a technical issue on the local authority's website has the date showing as Tuesday 27 May as the closing date.

As a result, the Council has made the decision to extend the deadline.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Moray Council said: "There has been a glitch in the system whereby the deadline date has kept rolling forward on a daily basis and by the time the issue was resolved it was showing May 27.

"Under the circumstances we are quite content for the deadline to be extended to that date and we will accept representations up until then."

To date, the local authority said it had received more than 200 representations on the application.
