A 'Meet the Buyer' event is to be held in Midlothian later this month by Morrison Construction, on behalf of Hub South East Scotland Ltd.
The contractor is responsible for building the replacement for Newbattle Community High School in Midlothian and the event will allow local companies as well as those looking for work to meet with representatives of the firm.
Representatives – from Morrison Construction, Hub South East Scotland Ltd and Midlothian Council – will be available to answer questions people may have as well as how businesses can benefit.
Jeff Thornton, Construction Manager for Morrison Construction, said: "Morrison Construction is committed to a local supply chain wherever possible. Working with local companies brings a range of benefits: local knowledge, local people, supporting the local economy and reducing our carbon footprint.
"Morrison is always looking for high quality local subcontractors and suppliers to register with us and these bespoke events give the supply chain an opportunity to come and discuss work opportunities face-to-face with members of the senior team in a very effective way and I find them incredibly useful."
Paul McGirk, Chief Executive of Hub South East Scotland Ltd, added: "One of the key aims of the Hub initiative is to ensure the delivery of community benefits for local people and businesses. This includes a commitment to involving local individuals and SMEs in construction and to this end we would encourage as many people as possible to attend these events in Midlothian."
The events will be held on:
• Thursday 22 May from 3pm to 7pm at Mayfield Library
• Tuesday 27 May from 3pm to 7pm at Gorebridge Library
• Thursday 29 May from 3pm to 7pm at Newtongrange Library.
