The site of the former Victoria Road School in Aberdeen is for sale, the local authority has said.
The school buildings and grounds, as well as the nearby workshops are being put on the market and are being marketed as an opportunity site for a potential residential development.
Property consultants Graham + Sibbald have been appointed to handle the sale of the site.
The granite Victorian school lies on a 0.7-hectare site and was constructed in 1878. It closed in 2008.
The school, which has a pitched slate roof, houses classrooms, offices and a gymnasium and is located in the centre of the site. The building consists of two main parts; the original structure consists of single, single and attic, and two-storey accommodation, while the extension – built in 1904 – is a two-storey, rectangular building.
The ground surrounding the school building is surfaced in tarmac and there is an area of amenity ground, which was used as a play area and garden, in the south-west corner of the site, while the 0.12 hectare workshop site is west of the school. The smaller building is a detached two-storey and attic granite building. The other is a larger, single storey brick workshop.
Property Sub-Committee Convener, Councillor Yvonne Allan, said: "Aberdeen is a growing city which is crying out for more housing. This is a perfect site for a new residential development.
"The Victoria Road School site has great potential. It gives wonderful views of the harbour and the North Sea and is well connected to the rest of Torry, as well as to the surrounding areas and city centre."
A closing date has been set for 4pm on 1 July 2014 and offers will be submitted to the Property Sub-Committee in September.
Inquiries about the property should be addressed to Bruce Murdoch or Mark Gillies at Graham + Sibbald by calling 01224 325024, or by emailing bruce.murdoch@g-s.co.uk or mark.gillies@g-s.co.uk
