Turner & Townsend has announced its appointment by National Grid to provide professional management services across the firm's gas, electricity and non-regulated businesses.
The consultancy firm has been awarded a three- to five-year framework, giving it the opportunity to tender for work across the entire programme. With its sub-consultants – QEM Solutions and PCS Hyder – Turner & Townsend will provide a range of project services, including health, safety and environmental and project management, project controls and commercial management, in order to improve project performance.
Working with clients across the power sector, the Turner & Townsend team covers a number of projects for power generation, transmission and distribution.
Currently, it is delivering a Commercial and Contract Management Support Services Framework to Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission, a subsidiary of SSE.
Welcoming this latest appointment, Mike Pigott, UK Power Sector Director at Turner & Townsend, said: "We recognise the challenges the National Grid faces in its role to provide secure, affordable and low carbon energy across the UK, and we believe our depth of knowledge and experience across the power sector will ensure these challenges are met.
"With health and safety at the core of our offer, our project, controls and commercial management disciplines will help deliver predictable outcomes on upgrades, reinforcements and new builds for future generations to come."
