Plans to create student accommodation near the University of Aberdeen are to go out to public consultation.
The proposals are by Alumno Developments and would see a retail site near the university – at Powis Place – transformed to provide accommodation for around 270 students. The building is to be a maximum of seven storeys.
The plans will go on display at Powis Gateway Community Centre on Tuesday 8 April from 3pm to 7pm. The drop-in session will allow the local community to study the suggested development and share their views.
Following the consultation, there are plans to submit a full planning application for the site within the next two months with Alumno Developments hoping to complete the build by August 2017.
Managing director David Campbell is quoted as saying: "There is continuous demand for high quality student accommodation in Aberdeen, given its increasing importance as an educational hub where supply has been short in recent years.
"Our plans go some way to addressing that problem, in close proximity to the University of Aberdeen."
