STS Events has unveiled its First Person on Scene Intermediate (FPOS-I) Construction Award course.

With its head office in Lanarkshire, the company provides a number of courses, such as responder and paramedic services, for a number of sectors – including the construction industry.

Working on a construction site has previously been found to be one of the five most dangerous jobs in the UK. Despite this, first aid provision on most sites is minimal, so the industry has introduced FPOS training as a more advanced and potentially life-saving level of emergency training. The training deals with a range of emergencies, from a worker being crushed by heavy plant machinery, falls from scaffolding, burns and fractures, to explosions. It also deals with minor injuries and illnesses such as chest pains, asthma, cuts and bleeding and slips, trips and falls.

STS Event's First Person on Scene Intermediate (FPOS-I) Construction Award is a four-day course, taught by paramedic instructors and accredited by the paramedic awarding bodies IHCD and Edexcel.
