The Highland Council and its consultant URS Infrastructure and Environment UK Ltd are now inviting comment on Part 2 of the options appraisal for the Stromeferry Bypass.
The draft routes plans and assessment of the options for Part 2 will be presented at drop-in sessions.
They will take place on:
Thursday 27 March at Lochcarron Village Hall, from 1pm to 7pm.
Friday 28 March at Achmore Village Hall, from 1pm to 7pm.
The process of selecting a preferred option for the route began in autumn 2012 when the council appointed URS to carry out the appraisal. The A890 Stromeferry Bypass has been affected by rock fall and intermittent closures since it opened in 1970, and the options appraisal being undertaken will allow the Council to select the route option which will benefit the community the most.
The Part 1 report was finalised in May 2013 and recommended that nine options be considered in more detail in Part 2 of the appraisal. It is intended to have draft Part 2 report prepared by May 2014 with recommendations being considered by the council in autumn 2014.
It is at this stage that a preferred option will be selected by the council.
