Plans have been submitted to invest more than £3m in council homes in the Glenrothes area.

At a meeting of Fife Council's Glenrothes Area Committee earlier this week, Councillors discussed the proposals which would see almost 800 jobs carried out over the next year to deliver a range of improvements on homes.

The jobs include 263 improved heating systems, 267 new kitchens and 38 new sets of windows and doors.

Committee Chair, Councillor Altany Craik, said: "I'm pleased that so many improvement works will be carried out in the next year, bringing us closer to the target of 100% compliance with the Government's Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.

"The improvements will make real differences for tenants in the Glenrothes area and allow us to offer more fit for purpose, comfortable homes."

The work is part of a Fife-wide investment where more than £37m is being invested to bring council homes up to the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.
