Work to repair a retaining wall on the B6399 roadside at Stobs, near Hawick, is to commence next week.
As a result, essential road closures will be in place in the area, Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has said.
Temporary traffic lights have been in place at the location for a number of weeks since the wall was damaged, but in a statement, the local authority said it has had to close the road due to the nature of the works being undertaken.
The work will commence on Monday 17 March and will see a full road closure in place for approximately six weeks.
To date, consultations have been held with the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA), the Scottish National Heritage (SNH), SBC's planning department and BT, which has apparatus which is required to be diverted in order to allow repairs to be made.
The consultations have now been completed, allowing work to proceed next wee. If any remaining works are required to be carried out after the closure period, SBC has said this will be done under temporary traffic light measures.
