• Additional bins, benches and new shrubs for Wallsgreen Park, Cardenden

• A memorial for Celtic legend Peter Johnston at Inchgall Farm, Crosshill who died in World War One

• Poppies sown around Kelty War Memorial

• An extension to Perth Road Allotment, Cowdenbeath

• Raised beds for Cardenden Primary School for food growing.

Commenting on the initiatives, Councillor Willie Clarke, Chair of the Cowdenbeath Area Committee said: "Projects like these can be hugely important in local communities, where much of the progress is often community led. Overall, the improvements can have a very positive impact on not just the visual appeal of an area but the health and wellbeing of the people that live there.

"In 2014 the area will be involved in developing two major projects that will have an invaluable impact on the local area. The Pilgrim's Way, Fife's second long distance path is being developed and work will be carried out to secure landowner agreements. Locally its route will take in Kingseat, Kelty, Lochore Meadows Country Park, Crosshill and Auchterderran.

"Lochore Meadows Country Park and Benarty Hills are also part of the Living Lomonds Landscape project which aims to improve paths, wildlife, employment training opportunities and woodland management. This year work will be carried out on the path from Kelty to Lochore Meadows Country Park."
