A plan to invest £6.7m in council homes in the Levenmouth area of Fife has been put before the local Area Committee.

In a report, it was revealed that 1,702 different jobs will be undertaken over the next year to deliver a range of improvements in a number of council homes. This includes 492 improved heating systems, 492 new kitchens and 11 new sets of windows and doors.

The work is part of a Fife-wide investment where more than £37m is being spent to improve homes and bring them up to Scottish Housing Quality Standard.

Councillor Tom Adams, Committee Chair, said: "I'm pleased that so many improvement works will be carried out in the next year, bringing us closer to the target of 100% compliance with the Government's Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.

"The improvements will make real differences for tenants in the Levenmouth area and allow us to offer more fit for purpose, comfortable homes."
