Campaign To Transform Ferry Terminal Launched

A campaign to promote a former ferry terminal in Stranraer as a major development opportunity has been launched.

According to the BBC, the site has been marketed by Stena Line and Dumfries and Galloway Council to try and attract a private developer for the land. The East Pier site has lain empty since the ferry operator moved its Irish Sea operations to a new facility in Cairnryan.

There are now hopes that the site can once again be brought into use through commercial, retail and residential proposals, with suggestions for the site being put forward. It is understood this includes plans for a potential casino licence in the area as well as the development of the waterfront through the expansion of the marina and a new boat yard.
