East Dunbartonshire Council is to continue with plans to construct a new school in the town.
The new build will replace two primary schools which are closing in the area - Lenzie and Lenzie Moss. It is understood the new facility will be located at the current Lenzie Moss site.
Last month, the Council said it was to progress with plans for the new build and now the Scottish Government has confirmed it needs no further details about the Lenzie proposal. The announcement means the local authority can now start to work with pupils, teachers and parents to design the new school.
Welcoming the news, Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said: "To be the Leader of a Council that is in a position to be able to build a new school of the highest modern standard for local children gives me great pleasure.
"In East Dunbartonshire we have a proud record of excellence in education and delivering new schools across the area is a key part of our ambitions to maintain and build on that reputation."
Councillor Geekie added that the local authority would work closely with the Scottish Government on the ambitious project.
In addition to the above, the Council has said it is looking at a similar proposal for Auchinairn and Woodhill Primary Schools in Bishopbriggs, but more time is required to discuss the plans.
