The investment has been made possible with sportscotland, Stirling Council and the Scottish Government all contributing to the funding.
There had previously been calls to create a curling centre in Stirling, but the news that the development is going ahead follows the strong performance by Team GB's curling teams at this year's Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The team, which was made up mostly of Scottish athletes, secured both a silver and bronze medal in the men's and women's team event respectively.
It is understood that following the success of the Winter Olympics, Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford wrote to Minister of Commonwealth Games and Sport Shona Robison campaigning for a new facility to be be built in the city. Athletes currently train at existing facilities at Stirling University.
