New council homes are to be built at Cardowan, North Lanarkshire Council has said.
The announcement comes as Lovell Partnerships Ltd was appointed as the preferred contractor for the project.
The scheme will see 30 homes delivered at the Cardowan Drive site in Cumbernauld, and will be a mix of three, four and five apartment houses, plus two and three apartment cottage flats.
It will provide an investment of £2.8m, with £1.5m grant secured from Scottish Government, and is just one development of the local authority's 'Building For The Future' new house building programme.
Convener of the Housing and Social Work Services Committee, Councillor Sam Love, said: "Our new build programme is making a difference to the lives of our tenants and improving the range of properties we have available for rent.
"A number of new tenders were issued for homes across North Lanarkshire. To date, 237 units are completed, in progress or under procurement. We're committed to delivering high quality, affordable homes for our tenants and their families while helping to build new communities."
