Plans for a new community campus with a nursery, primary and secondary school are to be discussed by Councillors in Dundee next week.
The facilities would be located on a single site in the Strathmartine area of the city.
The local authority has said that Robertson Construction have already been selected as the main contractor for the secondary school, but it is understood Councillors will be asked to approve a request for the firm to procure the other two developments.
Will Dawson, Convener of Dundee City Council's City Development Committee, said: "The new schools are being built on adjacent plots in the existing Baldragon Academy grounds and Robertson has a track record of creating local employment opportunities and using sub contractors based in the city.
"It would also be sensible and practical if both the nursery/primary and secondary school buildings were constructed over similar timescales using the same contractor."
Stewart Hunter, Convener of the Education Committee added: "The new secondary school will prove 1,100 places with sports facilities including a swimming pool and throughout its construction the existing school will remain operational.
"Therefore it is important that we get the procurement part of the contract right so that we can have a seamless transition."
