Scottish Water has said it is to carry out some planned environmental work at Gourock.

As a result of the works, there will be a temporary road closure set up in the town.

Both Steel Street and part of Cove Road, near the junction of the two streets, will close for approximately one week from 17 February.

The project will involve Scottish Water making three small excavations (trial pits) in the street to allow the firm to confirm the location of utility mains and the route of its pipework. It added that it will have to remove the trees in the street in order to carry out the planned work. Approval for this has been granted by Inverclyde Council.

Elsewhere, some investigations will be carried out on the beach at Cardwell Bay at the bottom of Steel Street. This will be achieved by using a small digger and will involve a survey of the sea wall and a few trial holes on the beach. Some tests in the water will also be carried out from a small boat. The investigations will take two days and will be undertaken alongside the road investigations.
