Aberdeen Council has said a one-way system will be in operation on a section of the Great Northern Road.

The system will be in place from Saturday 8 February and will remain for up to two weeks.

During this period, the road will be open to northbound traffic only between the Clifton Road and St Machar Drive junctions to allow utilities installation works for the new Police Scotland custody centre at Kittybrewster to be carried out.

Douthbound (citybound) traffic will be diverted along St Machar Drive and Bedford Road.

The local authority's roads staff have worked with the utility companies involved to ensure that the respective works are carried out at the same time, to minimise future disruption. The council will monitor the work to ensure they are completed as quickly as possible.

During the works, which are due to be complete by 22 February, there will be a ban on right turns from Bedford Road into Powis Place. An alternative route will be available via Powis Terrace, Calsayseat Road and Leslie Terrace. Additionally, no parking will be allowed on the west side of Great Northern Road between Clifton Road and Lilybank Place.
