A programme of works to improve Riverside Park in Blairgowrie, Perth & Kinross, is almost complete, the local authority has said.

Equipment for the children's play area has now been installed, while grass area are currently being fenced off to allow the turf to become properly established before people being using this section of the park.

Elsewhere, pointing work to the stone walls has been finished and covered over to allow the lime mortar to cure. The covers are due to be removed later this month. The new garden area is also nearly complete, with work on metal railings and handrail scheduled to be finished within two weeks. With the main works complete, the majority of spaces in the car park are available with a small number fenced off at the car park wall.

Perth and Kinross Council has said new signs are to be installed by the end of March, with the refurbishment of Cargill's Leap being carried out over the next two months.

An official opening of Riverside Park will take place in late Spring 2014.
