North Ayrshire Council has unveiled its latest older people's housing developments.
The sheltered housing, located at Currie Court in Ardrossan and Woodgrove in Dreghorn, have been fully refurbished and will provide its residents with a more attractive place to live. It also boasts a number of practical benefits.
Some £2.5m has been invested in the scheme and is part of the Council's ongoing commitment to meet the needs of older people living in North Ayrshire.
Under the project, improvements were made to the internal and external common areas of the building as well as each individual property.
This included:
• Upgrading residents' properties with new furnishings, modern kitchens and accessible wet-floor bathrooms
• Re-roofing and rewiring the entire complex
• Installing a modern, high quality heating system
• Insulation to the exterior of the building to maximise energy efficiency and help reduce fuel bills
• Extensive landscaping works including a newly formed car park
• Bright, attractive decoration and refurnishing of residents' lounges
• Improvements to the common kitchen area.
Provost Joan Sturgeon officially opened both refurbished units and said: "I am delighted to have been invited to open these fantastic centres - the latest high quality sheltered housing refurbishment in North Ayrshire."
