Angus Council has teamed up with SCARF, the fuel action charity, to establish a 'Warm Angus' project.

The project will aim to reduce household energy use and costs in the area.

With funding approved of £700,000, the scheme will be used towards energy efficiency improvements.

The local authority has said owner occupiers and private sector tenants in council tax bands A to C, could qualify for free energy efficiency improvements such as loft insulation, new boilers, central heating systems, wall insulation, draft proofing and energy efficient glazing.

Angus Council's Convener of Communities, Donald Morrison, said: "I would urge Angus householders to take advantage of this opportunity to make their homes more energy efficient. Not only will they save money through lower energy bills, but will benefit the environment by reducing domestic carbon emissions."

Specialist housing officers will be at the Co-op, Brechin, between 10am and 2pm on Friday 24 January, and at Tesco, Forfar between 10am and 2pm on Friday 31 January to provide information and advice to householders about the project.

The Warm Angus project has been created through the Home Energy Efficiency Programme for Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government and Energy Company Obligation to reduce household energy use and costs.
