Moray Council has given a new commitment to get plans for a replacement Elgin High School back on track.

The ambitious £18m project is currently four months behind schedule and work is not now expected to begin on site until September next year.

Work had originally been due to begin in spring 2014 with completion in autumn 2015.


During a presentation to the committee, Jim Royan, the chairman of Hub North Scotland – the public and private sector partnership responsible for building the school – apologised for the delays. He said the performance had fallen below the expectations of the council as clients.

Chief executive Angus Macfarlane said he accepted that they "could have done better," but everyone was fully committed to the project and moving forward with a set programme.
