It has been revealed that some of Dundee's most deprived communities could share almost £900,000 in regeneration funding.

Next week, Councillors will consider a recommendation that £846,935 is invested in neighbourhood projects and activities to help local communities.

The report proposes that the Lochee Community Regeneration Forum receives the greatest allocation of £190,462, with the East End to be given £136,473. Elsewhere, each Community Regeneration Forum in Coldside, Maryfield, North East and Strathmartine will be allocated £125,000, with £10,000 going to the Local Community Planning Partnerships for The Ferry and West End.

Ken Guild, Leader of Dundee City Council, said: "The most deprived places in Dundee, as defined by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, will see the greatest amount of money spent.

"But we are keen to ensure that nowhere in the city is left out of this process and this allocation of community regeneration funding will benefit everyone.

"Dundee City Council and its partners have made a commitment to respond to the needs of community regeneration areas by targeting additional services and resources that will help to close the inequality gap in the city, and this allocation reflects that."

Most community regeneration grants are used to fund physical and environmental improvements to neighbourhoods.
