A project to build what will become Scotland's largest new town has begun work to connect the site to the national transport network.
The Chapelton development will see 8,000 homes built just five miles south of Aberdeen.
Elsick Development Company (EDC) said 40% of the town will be green space.
Work has now begun on the construction of a new roundabout off the slip road at Newtonhill.
The roundabout will link to the route to Newtonhill eastwards across the A90 and the existing Cookney road towards the west.
Work is expected to last until summer 2014.
The road improvements are part of the £8m infrastructure works carried out by local firm WM Donald, based in Netherley.
