A formal opposition has been submitted by Dumfries and Galloway Council to plans for new wind turbines in Solway Firth.
According to the BBC, the opposition comes as the deadline for the Marine Scotland consultation is reached.
The different options being considered are understood to include extending the Robin Rigg wind farm, while also developing a new site at Luce Bay.
SNP Councillor, Alistair Geddes, said similar plans had been ruled out before.
In a statement, the Scottish Government said the proposals were at a consultation stage and no decision had been made with regard to any sites.
