The Hebridean island of Rum is to get a new children's play park.

Thanks to a grant of more than £9,500, the Isle of Rum Community Trust will put the funds towards creating a safe and enclosed play area for its children.

It will replace an existing play park which features out-of-date play equipment.

The new facility will be situated in the heart of the village, adjacent to the community hall, and will provide an area for families to relax and socialise.

Also enjoying the outdoors will be children on the Isle of Rum. Thanks to a grant of £9,534, the Isle of Rum Community Trust will refurbish an existing play park to provide an area suitable for children under eight years old. Situated in the heart of the village next to the Kinloch community hall, the park will also provide an area for families to relax and socialise.

The play park is one of 21 projects that have been awarded funding from the Big Lottery Fund today.
