Tenants in Haldane have received the keys to their new council homes.

The properties, which are built on Miller Road, are the latest to be completed under West Dunbartonshire Council's new build housing programme.

The 15-home development comprises of two apartment cottage flats and larger four and five-apartment houses.

They have a prominent location on the main entrance to Haldane, opposite Haldane Primary School, and replace three derelict and fire damaged tenements which had long been a blight on the local area.

Councillor David McBride, Convener of the Council's Housing, Environmental and Economic Development Committee, said: "These new properties really have transformed the appearance of Haldane and are also helping to offer first-class housing to tenants. The lucky new occupants have now all moved in and we hope they are looking forward to celebrating Christmas in their new homes."

Councillor Lawrence O'Neill, Vice Convener of the Council's Housing, Environmental and Economic Development Committee, added: "These new homes make a huge difference, both for the families who will live in them, and also by improving the whole look of the area for everyone. The Council homes also complement the modern housing recently built in the area by Cube and Dunbritton Housing Associations through the Haldane regeneration initiative."

The project was managed for the council by Cube Housing Association and the main contractor for the works was Cruden Building and Renewals.
