Neilston Leisure Centre To Reopen

East Renfrewshire Council has confirmed Neilston Leisure Centre is preparing to re-open.

In August 2012, the centre was forced to close due to concerns over some of the pool's circulation systems. As a result, Councillors supported a move to spend £350,000 on refurbishing the facility.

The upgrade included the necessary pool work replacements, as well as new changing rooms and other improvements such as new tiles and upgrading the entrance and lighting.

In addition, the local authority has said it is now also looking to hear from those who use the centre on further proposed improvements for Neilston.

Consultants Knight Kavanagh and Page have been looking into longer-term options for additional refurbishment work on behalf of the council.

They have arranged a public meeting to report their findings and hear from local people.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 30 October in the Glen Halls, Neilston, from 7pm.

Convener for Community Services and Community Safety, Councillor Mary Montague, said: "We appreciate the inconvenience this caused to people but I am sure they will be very happy with the improvements we've made to the facility.

"I also hope users will be able to come along to the public meeting to hear about the options we have for further refurbishment of the centre – we really want to get as many views as possible."
