Demolition of the former Camus House is to commence on Monday 21 October, Angus Council has said.
Gowrie Contracts Ltd of Dundee has been contracted by the local authority to carry out the works on the former residential care home.
The works will include the specialist removal of asbestos from the old building.
The clearance of the site is expected to take around 16 weeks, leaving only the existing sub-station and associated out-building remaining.
A planning application for 16 homes, including five family houses for ex-servicemen and their families, has been submitted to the council.
It is anticipated that the 12-month construction project will commence on site in summer 2014.
