Works to improve the façade and outside areas of shops and flats along the Cowgate in Kirkintilloch Town Centre have been completed.

The revamp is part of the Kirkintilloch Masterplan which has seen a total investment of more than £285,000 from a variety of sources.

Flats above the shops on the Cowgate have benefitted from the improvements. They include new handrails, balustrades and steps have all been fitted, while the new canopies along the Cowgate have been finished with high quality metal flashing and wooden cladding.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie said: "The refurbishment of the canopies is just one small part of a range of town centre improvements promoted by the Kirkintilloch Master Plan process.

"It has certainly helped to improve the overall appearance of the Cowgate. I am looking forward to seeing other parts of the Masterplan come to fruition through time."
