Developers are to appeal a decision made by the Scottish Borders Council over a proposed wind farm in Berwickshire.

According to the BBC, PNE Wind UK are to contest a decision over the development at Brunta Hill, near Westruther, Berwickshire, after the Scottish Borders Council blocked its progression in August.

At the time, the local authority said the scheme would have a "significant and unacceptable" impact on the area.

Now, PNE Wind UK has said it will appeal the decision. If successful, the firm would construct eight wind turbines, scaling back its original plans for 10.

A spokesperson for the company said: "Over the last three years, considerable effort has gone into consulting extensively and making improvements to the wind farm's design.

"As a result, we are confident that the wind farm layout is the most sympathetic to the landscape and remain committed to progressing with its development."
