Transport Minister Keith Brown has visited the recently opened cycling facilities at Pollokshaws West Station.

The Glasgow station's B-listed buildings have been converted into a new cycling resource centre following £135,000 of funding from the Stations Community Regeneration Fund which helped with some of the project works.

The centre, which has been developed and delivered by Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and their partners South West Community Cycles, provides a range of services including low cost cycle repairs, cycle hire, park and ride facilities for cyclists, an on-site coffee shop, and cycling education programmes.

Transport Minister Keith Brown said: "This is a fantastic initiative which not only offers a range of facilities for passengers travelling through Pollokshaws West Station but also integrates rail and cycling opportunities.

"Enhancing the travel experience is proven to be a driver in modal shift as part of the Scottish Government's key rail priority and the Stations Community Regeneration Fund supports this by enhancing the station facilities available for passengers use.

"As reflected through the responses to our recent franchise extension consultation, security and safety, both on-train and at stations, is one of the key priorities for passengers. This investment will enhance both the facilities on offer at stations across the country and the feeling of safety and security felt by passengers."
