Residents in Kirkwall are being invited to attend a consultation regarding the Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI).
The event will allow locals to find out more about, as well as exchange ideas on, a new £3.4m THI project which aims to regenerate the historic heart of Kirkwall.
Kirkwall Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) which will also incorporate a Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) will fund property works and bring vacant space back into use as well as work with local businesses, contractors, residents and visitors on traditional building skills training and other initiatives.
Miriam Frier, Kirkwall THI's manager, said: "We'd like to invite people along to our event on 17th September, when we'll give a brief introduction to the project and then hold a facilitated discussion on the THI's major topic areas.
"There will be an opportunity for people to view displays which outline the main THI vision and show some of the properties and training projects which are being considered as part of the THI project, which will run from 2014 to 2019 in the conservation area of Kirkwall."
Ms Frier added: "This event will also give people the opportunity to raise any other issues relevant to the THI remit, and I'd welcome people along to find out about and have their say on this exciting new project."
The event will be held in the St Magnus Centre on Tuesday 17 September 2013 from 4pm to 6pm.
